EIAs and MEMPs will be provided to PIs for their research cruises based on their completed EIA Questionnaires. PIs remain responsible for including the costs of training and/or hiring suitable personnel in marine mammal observing (MMO) and/or Passive Acoustic Monitoring (PAM). A list of options and costs for JNCC MMO training courses and PAM training courses is provided below. These costs should be taken into consideration when applying for funding for a research cruise.
Where MMOs and PAM operators are required, it is worth noting that, if constant monitoring was required, more than one MMO/PAMO would be needed in order to cover all daylight hours (for MMO) and all hours of darkness (PAM).
The following is a list of options and costs for JNCC MMO training courses and PAM training courses based in the UK. All prices are as listed in June 2020.
